First Home Owners Grant
As a first home buyer in Western Australia you are entitled to the first home owners grant, possibly the First Home Buyers Assistance Account and some stamp duty exemptions. Some conditions do apply.
These grants will save you, as a first home buyer, alot of money, and will help you get into your first home sooner. The First Home Owner Grants And benefits when buying your first home -
- The first home owners grant of $10,000 for a brand new property, or construction of a new first home.
- No transfer stamp duty on an established property purchase costing up to $500,000 (A saving of up to $17,765). Discounts on stamp duty for property purchases between $500,000 and $700,000 in the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel region and between $500,000 to $750,000 for properties outside of the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel region.
- No transfer stamp buy on vacant land purchase costing up to $350,000. Discounted transfer stamp duty on vacant land costing between $350,000 and $450,000
- The First Home Buyers Assistance Account which is a grant of up too $2,000, if you purchase your home from a licensed real estate agent, and the purchase price is $400,000 or less. The property must be established, the First Home Buyers Assistance Account is not available for building your first home.
At the moment too the federal government also has the first home guarantee scheme, which may also help with buying your first home with as little as 5% deposit, plus any associated fees like transfer stamp duty.
